With the Trading 212 Invest account, you can choose your preferred currency for each trade from the currencies available in your account.
This allows you to manage your funds more flexibly. An FX fee is charged when converting funds within your account or when placing a trade in a currency different from the asset’s currency. No FX fee is charged when trading in the asset’s currency.
📄 Note
When investing, your capital is at risk. An FX fee applies when converting funds. Other fees may apply.
How do I select the currency for my order?
- Open the instrument you wish to trade.
- Tap Buy or Sell.
- On the order screen, tap the currency shown next to your wallet funds.
- Select your preferred currency from the list of available wallets.
Which currency is selected when I open the trade screen?
You can set a default currency in More > Settings > Trading preferences to make placing orders quicker. The wallet matching your preference is pre-selected when you trade. If your default buying currency is the asset currency but you have no funds in that wallet, we pre-select your primary currency instead.
The selected wallet is carried over when you switch between order types while the trade screen remains open.
To change your setting, go to More > Settings > Trading preferences > Currency options.
Are there any limitations?
Pies & AutoInvest: Currently, Pies support only your account's primary currency. If a Pie contains assets denominated in a different currency, an automatic conversion will take place and the standard FX fee will apply.
ISA and CFD accounts: Multi-currency order selection is available only for Invest accounts. ISA and CFD accounts use the primary account currency for all transactions.
