High-profile IPOs often attract scammers who try to exploit investor interest. To stay safe, keep the following in mind:
- We will never contact you offering shares. Trading 212 will only notify you about IPO opportunities through official in-app notifications and verified emails. We will never contact you by phone, text message, social media, or messaging apps to offer IPO allocations, "guaranteed" shares, or pre-IPO shares
- You can only request IPO shares in the Trading 212 app. There is no other way to take part in an IPO through Trading 212. You cannot do it through a link, a website form, a phone call or a payment to a third party.
- Anyone selling pre-listing shares is likely a scammer. Be cautious of anyone offering to sell you shares before a company lists. This is a common scam. Some companies may let you place an order before listing, but these orders are only filled on listing day.
- No one can guarantee you shares. The issuer and its underwriters decide the allocation. You may receive fewer shares than you requested, or none at all. Anyone promising a guaranteed allocation is not telling the truth.
📝 Note
If someone contacts you claiming to be from Trading 212 and offers IPO shares, do not click any links, do not share your personal details, passwords or one-time codes, and do not send any money. Contact our Customer Support team through the app instead.
If you think you have already sent money to a scammer, contact your bank immediately and report it to the police.
