To create a 'Pie', simply go into the Portfolio section of your account and tap on the 'Create Pie' button within the 'AutoInvest' prompt.
Alternatively, if you already have investments in your portfolio, tap on the 'Pies' tab followed by 'Create Pie':
Next, browse and make a selection of your favourite stocks and ETFs.
Whenever you are happy with your selection tap on the arrow and proceed.
*You can always go back and edit the selection, even after the pie has been created.
Here you’ll get a first glimpse of what your pie will look like:
Using the sliders, adjust the target weight of each slice (investment) of the pie. Those target weights will determine how the invested funds will be allocated within the pie.
Example: You have a pie comprised of two companies - Google and Apple. If you set the target weight of Google to 70% and the target weight of Apple to 30%, and you invest £100 into the pie, £70 will go towards Google and £30 will go towards Apple.
AutoInvest vs. Manual Investing
You have the option to create a pie without using AutoInvest. If you choose to do so, you’ll have to manually contribute funds to the pie.
- Choose AutoInvest if - you want to deposit funds and invest automatically. You will select the desired contribution amount and schedule on the next step.
- Choose Manual if - you don't want to contribute on a schedule and rather invest and withdraw funds on your own.
*You can enable/disable AutoInvest later at any time.
AutoInvest
If you stick with the AutoInvest option, your next step will be to set up your Investment plan.
Use the sliders to customize your desired investment duration, deposit amount, and deposit schedule. Increase the ‘Initial deposit’ value if you already have a lump sum to start with.
On top of the screen, you have a projection of the potential growth of your pie based on the investment plan you’ve configured and the historical average annual return rate of the pie.
Of course, since this estimation is based on historical return it is not guaranteed.
Personalization
Give your pie a name and pick the icon you like best.
Review
This is the final step before your pie is created. Do a quick review, if everything is how you would like it and proceed to fund the pie.
Funding
After you select a payment method to link to AutoInvest, the Initial Deposit will be made immediately, and recurring deposits will be made according to the pie’s deposit schedule.
In order to improve the abovementioned experience, we plan to introduce DirectDebit / SEPA deposits which will allow you to connect your bank account to your Trading 212 account and fully automate bank transfers.
That’s it! Your first pie has been created.
To add a new Pie, you simply need to press the "+" icon and go over the creation process above once again.
