This is an extra layer of security in your Trading 212 account. When enabled and you log in, you will be asked to enter a six-digit authentication code generated by a two-factor authentication app.
To enable 2FA:
- Go to the ☰ Menu tab
- Settings
- Privacy & Security
- Two-factor authentication
- Choose Enable
- If you're setting 2FA for the first time, we will ask you to take a selfie.
- Type your Trading 212 account password
- Download an authenticator app
- Copy your key from the Trading 212 app and paste it into the authenticator app
- Save your backup code. You will need it if you lose access to the authenticator app

What's the difference between an authentication and a backup code?
- the authentication code is generated by an app separate from Trading 212. You copy the code from this app and paste it into Trading 212 in order to log in.
- the backup code is a one-time code, generated by Trading 212. If you lose access to your authenticator app, you can use the backup code to log in.
How do I log in with my backup code?
In the 2FA screen, select the "Lost access to your authenticator?" button and paste your backup code. You will then see a new backup code that can be used to log in. Make sure to save it.
What can I do if I forget my backup code?
To check the backup code in the app:
- Go to your ☰ Menu tab
- Settings.
- Privacy & Security
- Two-factor authentication
- Options
- View backup code
- Copy the authentication code and paste it into the Trading 212 app.
What should I do if I lose access to my authenticator and backup codes?
Select "Lost access to your authenticator?". Then, you can take a selfie to help us verify it's you trying to access the account. We will notify you once the 2FA is disabled.
Why am I no longer asked for 2FA when I log in on my phone?
When you log in, you can choose "Remember this device". We will then stop asking for an authentication code when you try to log in from this device.

- Forget all devices.

Any app that generates authentication codes can be used with the Trading 212 2FA. The most common ones are:
