Your 212 Card works with millions of merchants worldwide. However, some merchants apply their own eligibility and acceptance checks when you add a card or set up a subscription.
These checks are performed by the merchant and can differ between merchants. As a result, a merchant may not accept your 212 Card even though it is valid and works normally with other merchants.
Why can my card show a different country?
For most customers, the card's issuing setup corresponds to their country of residence. In some cases, particularly across Europe, a card may be issued on a card range associated with another European country.
This is part of how the card is issued and isn't something you need to change or request.
Some merchants use the first 8 digits of a card number, known as the 8-digit BIN, to identify information about the card, including its issuing country. How merchants use this information can vary.
In some cases, this can affect whether a card meets the merchant's eligibility requirements, even though the card is valid and correctly issued.
What can I do?
If a particular merchant doesn't accept your 212 Card for a subscription, try another eligible subscription merchant that accepts the card.
- You don't need to change your card or account.
- You can still earn cashback by paying for an eligible subscription with another merchant that accepts your 212 Card. More information on how the cashback works can be found here.
