The magnetic stripe is not present on 212 cards due to the security risk they pose. We take into consideration a few factors π
- The data on the magnetic stripes can be easily copied. This includes information such as your account number, your name, the cardβs expiration date, etc.
- The information stored on it is static. Once it's copied, it can be used multiple times until the card is blocked by you or your bank, making it vulnerable to unauthorized use.
- The data on the magnetic stripe is not typically encrypted, making it easier for hackers to read and exploit.
As a result, many financial institutions are phasing magnetic stripes out in favour of more secure alternatives, which is why we have taken the same approach.
π Note
You might not be able to withdraw at specific ATMs that only accept cards with a magnetic stripe.
