If you're a new Trading 212 EU GmbH client, you may be eligible to earn a promotional interest rate (Promo Rate) on your uninvested EUR cash for the first months after activating your account. The Promo Rate is a variable rate linked to the European Central Bank (ECB) Deposit Facility Rate and applies automatically - no promo code needed.
Here's how it works, who's eligible, and what happens once the promotional period ends.
Who is eligible for the Promo Rate?
To qualify for the Promo Rate, you need to:
- Be a new Trading 212 client - you haven't previously held, and don't currently hold, an account with Trading 212 or any other Trading 212 Group company.
- Open an Invest Account with Trading 212 EU GmbH during the campaign's validity period.
- Within 10 calendar days of opening your Invest Account, make a deposit of at least the minimum amount shown on our Terms and Fees page, and opt in to the Interest Sharing Programme.
📄 Note
The Promo Rate applies only to your Invest Account. It does not apply to a CFD account or to any other account or service offered by Trading 212.
Employees of Trading 212 (or any other Trading 212 Group company) and their close relatives are not eligible.
How do I activate the Promo Rate?
The promo rate will be applied if you meet all the eligibility criteria above. No promo code or link is required.
What rate will I earn?
The Promo Rate is a variable rate. It's made up of two parts:
- The ECB Deposit Facility Rate - the interest rate on the deposit facility set and published by the European Central Bank.
- A fixed markup (in percentage points per annum) that stays the same for the whole duration of your Promo Rate Period.
Your current effective Rate is always visible in the app on the interest-on-cash screen.
📄 Note
Because the Promo Rate is variable, it may change during your Promo Rate Period if the ECB changes its Deposit Facility Rate. Any change to the ECB Deposit Facility Rate takes effect on the same date it becomes effective at the ECB. The markup will not change during your Promo Rate Period.
The Promo Rate applies only to uninvested cash held in EUR. Any uninvested cash you hold in other currencies will earn the standard rate (if any) for that currency, as shown on our Terms and Fees page.
How long does the Promo Rate last?
Your Promo Rate Period is fixed for the period set in the Promo Rate Terms, starting on the day you meet all eligibility criteria. Any additional deposits you make during that period will not extend it.
What happens when my Promo Rate Period ends?
At the end of your Promo Rate Period, your rate will automatically revert to the standard variable EUR rate applicable at that time, as shown on our Terms and Fees page. You don't need to do anything - the change happens with no gap in interest.
What if I opt out of interest during the promo?
If you opt out of the Interest Sharing Programme during your Promo Rate Period, you'll stop receiving interest - including the Promo Rate - from that point on. If you opt back in before your Promo Rate Period ends, the Promo Rate will apply again for the remainder of the period.
❗️ Important
Opting out does not pause or extend your Promo Rate Period. The period keeps running from your original start date, regardless of any time you spend opted out.
What could disqualify me from the Promo Rate?
You may be disqualified from the Promotion - meaning the Promo Rate won't apply, or will stop applying - if we determine that you have:
- Opened, or attempted to open, more than one Invest Account, or tried to take part in the Promotion more than once;
- Violated, manipulated or not followed these Terms, the Invest Terms or any of the other legal documents you agreed to when you signed up; and/or
- Performed any act that harms Trading 212 or damages our reputation.
If disqualification happens during or after your Promo Rate Period, we reserve the right to reclaim the difference between any interest paid to you at the Promo Rate and the interest you would otherwise have received under the standard Invest Terms. Where can I find more information?
Full terms are set out in the Invest Promo Rate Terms on our website. In the event of any inconsistency between this article and the Invest Promo Rate Terms, the Terms prevail.
