When investing in Crypto ETNs, it’s important to be aware of the key risks:
Market risk & volatility
The underlying crypto-assets can move rapidly and unpredictably. This volatility can significantly impact your investment.
Issuer risk
Crypto ETNs are unsecured debt securities. If the issuer defaults or becomes insolvent, the ETN may become worthless, regardless of the underlying crypto performance.
No FSCS protection
Crypto ETNs are not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). If the issuer or product fails, you won’t receive compensation.
Tax implications
Profits may be subject to Capital Gains Tax (CGT) unless the ETN is held in a tax-advantaged account like an ISA or SIPP. Tax treatment depends on your circumstances and may change.
