The W-8BEN is a document declaring that you are not a US tax resident. When you fill it out, you lower the 30% tax rate you have to pay on any income (e.g. received dividends) generated from US stocks.

Yes, non-US investors must complete the W-8BEN form and have a valid Tax Identification Number to purchase US stocks through Trading 212.
How do I fill in the form?
You will be asked to do it while creating an account. Depending on your country of residence and country where you pay taxes, you will have three options to choose from.
